Taking a moment from your regularly scheduled blog to brag about my child

That's not completely true because #1 - there is nothing regular about this blog.  It happens when I get the time and/or inspiration.  And #2 - it's not unusual for me to brag about my children on here!

They say that when a child is less developed in one area they make up for it in another.  Apparently what Cadence lacks in speech she makes up for in her fine motor skills.  Girlfriend's got some mad fine motor skills!  They have been amazing since the day she came home.

Hairclips!

You know those moments when you feel that this parenting thing you've got going on is truly the best gig in town?  This was one of those moments.  It made me laugh and remember and feel so stinkin' happy to be a mama to these girls!  We videotaped Laurel in 2009 when she came down from naptime with her hair full of clips.  She was so proud of herself!  I'm pretty sure that Cadence has never seen this video.  The other morning, Cadence was quietly hanging out in her room - which always means something is going on!  She walked out of her room like this...   So funny, so proud, and so completely adorable!

Brightening my work day

I guess I should actually say "brightening my work night".  I have been working a lot this week.  We have a lot of projects around the house that we can use some extra cash for as well as a vacation that we are planning for the fall (it involves a certain mouse - yay!).  The girls complain when I work.  I remind them that I only work part time, that they are sleeping when I'm at work, and that someone needs to take care of the sick kids.  And I do love my job.  Although there are some nights that I look forward to a short respite from being a mom, I always miss them, even when I just work for one night.

So when I'm wishing that I was tucking them into bed instead of my patient, I check out my locker.  Two adorable pictures that were drawn for me (I laminated them because I loved them so much) and their photos.  It helps me get through some a long night and brings a smile to my face!

I really need to update, but I love the pics of Sierra and Laurel

And my favorite!
